In July 2020, SKS Engineers was invited to perform geotechnical exploration and foundation investigation at the site of a new 4-story building at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center in southern Decatur. SKS took 8 soil borings and found groundwater as shallow as 1.3′ below the surface. We were able to recommend backhoe-type equipment for safe site excavation and the use of pumps for water removal, as well as cost-effective foundations for this type of building.
SKS Engineers continued providing quality control services during construction through April 2021.
